In recent times there has been a clear tendency towards the creation of spaces that have a closer link to our culture and our territory. After initial Anglo-Saxon “ever green” references, voices are beginning to be heard within the professional green space sector talking about sustainable gardening or seriscaping before going on to talk of Mediterranean gardening or the dry garden. Whether we find ourselves in one category or the other depends on the methods and energies we apply and the plant matter we use. Might we end up talking, as in architecture, about vernacular landscape?
