Aesthetics is not the most important factor in the success of an urban project. This statement is quite chocking to many architects. But when one observes illustrations and renderings of proposals it is striking that the key element, besides a correct representation of the project at hand, is people. People walking on the street, relaxing on terraces, sitting by the side of a canal, playing football and enjoying themselves in the spaces between the buildings.
