SCHINKEL COMPETITON
International architecture competition for the Masetrplan of Spandau on the River Havel. The task approaches the location at different viewing angles. Originally as a separate town, the Bbezirk Spandau must mark as one of the city centers in Berlin today .
From citywide perspective, it is required to strengthen the independence and the visibility of the site – not only as a place of living and working , but also as an attraction for leisure, arts and culture. Spandau’s position on the Havel offers special opportunities for linkage of landscape and city. The potentiality of the core city must be studied in more detail in order to sharpen their skills. Solutions are expected to overcome the traffic-related constriction of the Old Town, the reorganization of the connection between the station and the city entrance and the riversides of the downtown area of the river Havel.
The AIV Schinkel competition is organized as a promotional competition to promote the professional development of young architects and engineers and engineers as well as students and graduates of the respective disciplines.
