Building upon its 15 years of experience, the Arquine Conference presents MEXTRÓPOLI, a festival that will position Mexico City as an epicenter of architecture and a leader in creative transformation.

MEXTRÓPOLI is a critical project that will encourage and promote culture, urban regeneration, and the artistic heritage of Mexico city.

MEXTRÓPOLI will host over 30 academic, cultural and tourist activities, held principally in the historic center of the city.

MEXTRÓPOLI invites the public to connect to the city in six different ways:

DIALOGUE/ Round Tables

 

Table discussion and brief presentation by chroniclers of Mexico City, giving their different perspectives on the city.

Urban Dialogues: Table discussion and brief presentation by urbanists, with the goal of presenting and discussing the main strategies for the development of Mexico City.

Political Dialogues: Table discussion and brief presentation by former mayors who have been key players in the transformation of model cities.

Points of Activity./
City Talk: Speaker Corner, where throughout the festival they will be gathering citizens’ opinions via open mikes and recordings.

Mobile Agora: A unique mode of transportation with multiples uses designed by artist Pedro Reyes in collaboration with Pase Usted, meant to generate micro-debates among citizens.

Civic Stage: A program of Spoken, Physical, and Urban Acts. Raise your voice in order to create civic spaces and explore the theatricality of public acts that inspire and reach broad and diverse audiences. Designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo and implemented in the Lisbon Architecture Triennale.

Parasite: Organized by the laboratory for the city (Urban Management Agency), an organism capable of adapting to the conditions of the city to collect the dialogues, ideas and concerns of citizens. At the same time, it promotes talks and events that activate the area in which it’s inserted.
