Article 03, paisea 031. The square that we want | Itziar González and Arnau Boix
Urban transformation within the city often goes hand in hand with citizen awareness and interaction (sometimes even confrontation) between the different social actors involved. These transformations are able to create empathy and cohesion between neighbourhoods, between residents and administration, between technicians and users. During the redesign and reorganization of the whole of the Plaza de les Glories of Barcelona, and in the wake of the public tender processthrough which the winning proposal was chosen, a number of actions have been proposed by the neighbourhood associations of the Sagrada Familia, Fort Pienc, Poble Nou and the del Clot-Camp de l’Arpatogether with their architects, Salvador Matas and Rita Gonzalez Virós. All of them are aimed at increasing the degree of public involvement in the design process, providing proposalsand suggestions to politicians, administrators and technicians, as well as strengthening and expanding the flow of communication and collaboration between citizens and the administration.
