Nature, childhood, and creativity
Childhood is a holistic process, different for each child. Besides classrooms, many children need alternative, hands-on playand- learning environments to match their varied learning styles. As public education often does not emphasize the social life of children or their need for creativity and emotional expression, new opportunities must be found for developing individual talents to provide society with practical, problem-solving intelligence as well as fulfillment of individual lives.
Where can this creative, expressive life of children flourish? An ever-increasing amount of scientific research demonstrates that urban green spaces can serve these crucial developmental needs as well as support healthy development of children by reducing sedentary time indoors.
