Article 02, paisea 015. The design and production of urban furniture | Diego Gómez Fernández

Urban furniture encompasses all the products that meet people’s needs in public and/or collective spaces, and which are generally grouped into four major types of services: lighting, directions/boundaries, waste management and, of course, recreation. The increasing importance given to public spaces and man-made landscapes has led to an improved provision of furniture and to constant evolution in its typologies. It is increasingly common for furniture to be designed specifically for a project, in response to its particular needs of form and use. It has also become common, following the creative effort involved in this, to try to make further use of the product by putting it on the market to be used in other equipment and projects.
