A little bit of history…
The covering of constructions with a flat roof is ancestral and universal. It is the traditional way of covering the ziggourats of Mesopotamia, the casbahs in the Magreb, and the white architecture of the Mediterranean. The etymology of the word “terrace” comes from “Terrazza”, mortar made up by volcanic earth of Santorini and gravel that was used to cover old terraces. The idea of a green roof is not new. In year 600 b.C., the hanging gardens of Semiramis,in Babilonia, were famous.
