Article 04, paisea 003. Immutable gardens. Alessandro Villari.
A tumultuous crowd of tourists precedes me in the interior of the Ryonan-ji temple. Nevertheless, the sound of steps is barely perceptible. Arriving at the pórtico of the temple (en-gawa), my gaze is caught by a small área of sand punctured by singular rocks arranged in an apparently indecipherable order. My thoughts wander among the number of pictures and photographs that I have seen in books so often, a result of the fleeting confrontation between the reality before me and the previously imagined concept.
I find myself standing in front of the best known “Zen garden” (dry garden) of Japan. The Ryoan-ji is located in a small rectangular (24x10m) between the temple building and a small perimeter wall.
