Workshop Sardinia 2015. Italy
The workshop will take place May 21 to 31. The installation will be carried out an intensive ten days. After the welcoming ceremony and presentation of the workshop, the program provides for the organization of the working groups, the inspections and the mid-term. On the final day, May 30, the installations will be presented with a guided tour of the works, which will follow the debate and the awarding of diplomas. At the closing ceremony attended by administrators and local authorities, the community, journalists and international critics, who will be invited to review and evaluate the results.
The fifth edition of the workshop will be held at the now abandoned, Argentiera, an old mining complex, along the coast north-west coast of Sardinia. The site is part of the Historical and Environmental Geo-mining Park of Sardinia, which is part of the Global Network of Geoparks of UNESCO (the network of territories recognized as to be preserved because they have a geological heritage of particular significance, thanks to the “scientific, rarity, aesthetic and educational value “of their sites and artifacts.
The site has been well preserved and the ancient silver extraction structures as well as the exceptional character of their geographic location, make the mining settlement of Argentiera, an museum of natural history. The site is unique and summarize the entire anthropological history of Sardinia, an island that since ancient times has been a basin of extraction of metals and coal for the whole Mediterranean area.
