Allariz International Garden Festival winners
Allariz International Garden Festival is, step by step, establishing itself as a great tourist attraction encouraging local economy and gathering many architecture, landscaping and gardening professionals together.
The current edition is a unique space for the enjoyment of the imagination and senses. The proposals selected by the jury, presided by Francisco Caldeira Cabral, contribute to body and soul relaxation, contemplation and encourage reflection on the socioeconomic crisis that we suffer from and that we want to fight with a critique to the austerity that attacks the welfare state.

House is identical and isolated territory for human’s perception. Its strong privateness with absolute ownership gives owner a comfort. We call it familiarity.
Plant has a generally positive perception for human with the word “green”, “nature” and etc. If you close your eyes and imagine yourself with abundant plants, in most case, you will be in outdoor nature with the feeling of comfort. Again, we call it

This ecosystem materializes around a structure that gives an unit. And weaving a string in which all units are complement.
It houses an area of rest which allows us to relax surrounded by aromas, colors and textures that evoke the richness of the nature.
Visitors will learn in GEA while walking and they can enrich their

How to imagine different “places”? What are the materials we need in order to demonstrate, even if it is for a transitional period, that our cities could be different?
Or even better… how can we start to (re)build (ourselves)?
Talking about abundance in these times has turned into something a bit ironic. If we think of the definition “a large amount of something, especially money”, is this the abundance that makes us happy? We don’t think so.
The figure of the wall is the metaphor and thread to represent in a simple and clear way the current situation. It is also our personal vision about how to understand things from now on to avoid falling into the mistaken search of induced needs once again.
Where we first built concrete walls, now ideas can grow…
